Internet Explorer is under constant attack from hackers and has a number of vunerabilities unless you keep it constantly updated. There are alternative browsers that in fact offer more and are more secure.

Opera -Opera Home Page

Mozilla -Mozilla Download page

Scanit Browser Security test

All Browsers are subject to risk depending on Operating systems used, Plug-ins, ie Quicktime, Adobe Flash and scripts. Memory issues can also cause vulnerabilities.

To assess your browsers security, you can run a test that will indicate any problems and their solution. If any vulnerabilities are found they be reported via this program and what action you should take.

Please note, this program may cause your browser to crash, don't be alarmed, it is part of the test. Restart your browser and go back to the the Scanit home page where the tests will resume. It will ask if your browser crashed, in which case just click on the "yes" field.

At the end of the tests, Scanit will report the areas that your Browser has passed or failed on. You will also be able to see a deatiled report on any areas that the Browser has failed on.

Firefox 3 Beta 5 - which is basically pre-release - is available for all who want to try it

Using it, and it's lightning fast.

It certainly is: I have been using since I Un- installed Explorer 7 which was several weeks ago.

So far I have experienced no problems.

I am a fan of OSX, but this is BAD. As was their attempt to get Safari downloads via the itunes update. Shame on Apple.
