That is from your link. Are you happy with what it illustrates?

I'm not happy that the UK is improving slower than some other countries. Who would be? But that wasn't the point I was making, which was that your "40% of the ouput from comprehensives leave school illiterate and innumerate" was something you had made up. Which it was.

What do you suggest should be done about it? Let me guess, what would the Daily Mail says... get rid of targets, SATs tests, league tables, perhaps? Leave the teachers to get on with it? Did you read about what happened in Wales when they did that?

But the Labour-led Welsh Government can only blame itself for the poor reading standards of today's 10-year-olds. They are the product of a lifetime (for them) of devolved education policy and, frankly, it has let them down. Devolved has meant increasingly diverged. League tables, SATS and other comparison measures unpopular with teachers were removed.

Which it was.

No it was not damn your eyes. I read it somewhere and now I cannot find it. That soes not mean I made it up. Get a bit honest ****.

Wrong again big mouth, but then you can never resist the chance to put words in other peoples mouth can you?

The teaching profession is what`s wrong with the teaching profession, what is wrong with teaching and what is wrong with the outcome. Teacher training colleges are rotten with socialist dogma and practises, they see a golden opportunity for social engineering in schools, catch them young like the Jesuits "Give me a child at seven and he is mine for life"
All the limp left anti-smacking wankers, or beating as they like to call it, have a hell of a lot to answer for. You just tell me how a stroppy young teenager who has never had any discipline imposed at home or at school can be controlled when it is necessary if they have no way of enforcing their orders? Exclusion? Ha thats a joke. Schools are punished if they exclude kids.

So what is your answer to that Einstein?

All the limp left anti-smacking ****s, or beating as they like to call it, have a hell of a lot to answer for.

Violence. How delightful. It might help for a short while, but as everyone knows violence begets more violence. You do realise that what you are advocating would be a serious crime if it was committed against an adult - assault and battery, abh? The notion that children should be given less protection under the law than adults is abhorrent and wrong. Out of interest, in this child-beating world of yours, at what age would desirable violence against children suddenly become criminal assault against a grown-up? 18? Perhaps when they come of age these stroppy teenagers of yours can have "hit me again and I'll call the police" parties.

So what is your answer to that Einstein?

There are such things as moral absolutes. Schools are not places which should do violence to children. Not under any circumstances. Absolutely none. Never. I don't care if this primitive cultural practice has been prevalent in this country for centuries. It is as wrong as fgm or capital punishment - and happily now just as illegal.

Practically everyone in my very extended fam,ily were smacked when they were naughty children and strangely enough not one of them has turned out to be violent, not even me you will be horrified to know, and the last time I hit anyone I was 23, and the time before that I was at school. I have never smacxked either of my daughters because there was never any need to, but my wife rells me that she smacked them when they were naughty, you could not meet two nicer girls, well women they are 28 and 30. Rather shoots down your theory about smacking automatically leading to brutalising the smacked doesn`t it?
