Listening to the old stuff that we know is always comforting. The joy of having children in their teens or twenties is getting to know newer stuff. I actually like a lot of what our kids listen to: Green Day, the Kooks, Mando Diao...

A few surprises in that chart. I would have expected something by Simon and Garfunkel, maybe Buddy Holly, and other 'classics' such as Freebird or Stairway to Heaven.

I don't agree it's 'comfort' that keeps people playing these tracks. They have endured for a reason and there is no reason to suggest that some current music won't last too. Personally I don't like much chart music but I do listen to music that is new to me and it is a great feeling when I find an artist who I like, especially if they already have several albums available.

This is a pretty good site for finding new music. http://www.last.fm/

1st Gent. Our deeds are fetters that we forge ourselves.
2nd Gent. Ay, truly: but I think it is the world that brings the iron.

Also http://www.deezer.com is a good site. I looked at that list and not one track that i would play! I tend to think that people do change their tastes quite regulary. If you made a compilation of the tracks that you would want to listen to, after a few plays, you would want to listen to something else. At present, the song that would immediately come to mind as most played for me would be Murray Head - say it ain't so Joe. But that is because it is on one of many compilations that i have made up in the car.
