A bit late to flag this event up, I know.

I only watched two extremely contrasting sets, the first with all the guilt of anticipating a train crash, Amy Winehouse. She is a unique talent but may well end up in that group of the "great that die young". The second set was Neil Diamond's who was being slavered over by Mrs Tattie and who, if I was honest, put on a consummate performance.

I was vaguely interested in watching Leonard Cohen but.................Lips Sealed

Cohen writes some great songs. But other people tend to do them better. John Cale's version of Hellelujah being a prime example. Or k d lang's rendition of the same song.

Amy makes me glad I don't have daughters.

Another great song that has been done better by others, i.e. Tim Hardin, Johnny Cash, k d laing (again!), Willie Nelson or, for something a bit different, Joe Cocker.

No! I'm afraid Esther Ofarim just doesn't make it onto my list. Perfect voice. No soul.

This is how it should be done -
